Cheap Veneers for the Price of a Mercedes: How Not to Overpay for a Beautiful Smile

How much does it cost to get veneers? Today, a specialist from Globalmedik answers the question.

Tatiana Velikorodnaya, head of Globalmedik.

Imagine: you paid as much for veneers as a new Mercedes. But instead of an exclusive product, you got a mass-produced job. How could this happen? Today, I, Tatiana Velikorodnaya, will tell you how not to fall victim to inflated prices and choose high-quality veneers that are really worth the money.

Why do veneers vary so much?

Veneers are your ticket to a Hollywood smile, but why do some clinics offer them at very low prices, while others charge as much as a new car? What’s the catch?

Today, we’ll figure out how not to fall victim to tricks where you’re sold a cheap product at the price of luxury. We’ll look at the main types of veneers and what’s really worth your money.

Let’s start with the basics

We won’t talk about composite veneers – this is a cheap and short-lived option that often looks unnatural and quickly loses its appearance. We are talking about EMAX veneers – modern ceramic veneers that are as similar to natural teeth as possible. These veneers differ in the manufacturing method, which affects their cost.

Types of veneers depending on production

  1. Digital Smile Design (Digital veneers)
They are created entirely on a computer. This is a fast and automated process, but such veneers often do not look natural. You get the product quickly and inexpensively, but the quality and naturalness suffer.
  2. EMAX (Semi-manual production)
This is the standard offered by most clinics. The veneer frame is created by machine, and the finishing is done by hand. This approach allows you to achieve a natural look of teeth with color transitions, highlights and transparent edges. These veneers are more expensive, but their quality is higher.
  3. Prepless Veneers (Ultra-thin veneers)
The most expensive and exclusive option. Ultra-thin veneers are installed without preliminary tooth treatment, which preserves your enamel. This is the Mercedes of the veneers world: premium quality and maximum care for your teeth. However, they are more fragile due to their thinness.

Why are some veneers cheaper and others more expensive?

  • Digital Smile Design veneers are a quick and budget option, but for that price you lose naturalness. Natural teeth always have iridescent colors, shadows and transparent edges – all that is impossible to create on fully automated equipment.
  • Semi-manual veneers are created using hand finishing, which makes them look like real teeth. It is this finishing that requires more time and professionalism, which explains their higher price.
  • Prepless Veneers are the most premium option. These veneers are installed without the need for grinding down your teeth, preserving your enamel. I myself chose this option because I wanted to keep my teeth in their natural state.

How patients are deceived

Many clinics sell cheap digital veneers as high-quality ones, claiming that they are hand-finished. However, in reality, this is just machine work, which can easily be passed off as more expensive.

Here are the results of my experiment in three clinics:

  1. The first clinic promised to make hand veneers in three days. We know that hand work requires at least 8 days, so this was an obvious deception.
  2. The second clinic offered to replace the veneers with crowns, filing down my healthy teeth. It was easier for them to put in crowns than to make high-quality veneers.
  3. The third clinic said that hand veneers do not exist at all. They did not even try to consider an individual approach.
