One of the most common questions patients ask is: “When will I be able to breathe normally? How long will the swelling last? When will I see the final result?”
Today, during rhinoplasty in Turkey, surgeons use modern silicone splints. These are small hollow tubes placed inside the nose, allowing air to pass through freely. They are flexible yet hold their shape, helping to protect the nose and making the recovery process much more comfortable. In some cases, temporary breathing difficulties may still occur, but usually for individual reasons.
Right after surgery, the surgeon will apply thin, lightweight splints. They do not interfere with breathing and look discreet.
The first few days after surgery, rest is recommended. Some patients may feel mild weakness or nausea, which is easier to manage while staying in the clinic and later in a comfortable hotel.
You’ll stay in Istanbul for about 7 days after your operation. During this time, a driver will take you to follow-up visits and dressing changes. On the final day, your splints will be removed—and you’ll be ready to fly home safely.
Swelling is expected after rhinoplasty, but it is usually minimal and bruising is rare. Keep in mind that recovery is a process:
-
By the 3rd–4th month, about 70–80% of the final result will already be visible.
-
The final shape of your nose will be revealed within 12 months, as swelling fully subsides.
