My experience at Memorial Hospital was extremely disappointing and not what I expected from a reputable healthcare facility. During my surgery, my gold necklace was stolen, and to my dismay, the hospital refused to take any responsibility for the incident. For a hospital that presents itself as a high-class institution, I would expect basic safeguards to ensure that personal belongings, such as a necklace, are secure and cannot simply disappear. This lack of accountability was shocking and left me feeling vulnerable and unheard.
One of the most upsetting parts of my experience was the treatment I received from my appointed liaison, Ms. Gyzylgul. She was supposed to handle all arrangements for me, but two days after my surgery, she completely abandoned me. I was left to fend for myself in a foreign country while still in considerable pain. Ms. Gyzylgul ignored my messages and failed to assist me with even the basic logistics, such as arranging transfers, even though these services were supposed to be part of my package.
What I found particularly troubling was the sharp change in attitude after I had made my payment to the hospital. Before the payment, the staff was courteous and attentive, but once I had paid, this friendliness seemed to vanish. When I confronted Ms. Gyzylgul about her unprofessional behavior, she dismissed my concerns, responding with “you are welcome” when I pointed out how inappropriate her actions were. For someone in a vulnerable state and far from home, this lack of empathy and basic respect was incredibly distressing.
The entire experience left me feeling mistreated and neglected, which is the last thing one expects from a healthcare facility. If anyone is considering a hospital in Turkey, I would advise choosing a place that values responsibility and compassion—qualities that I unfortunately found lacking at Memorial Hospital.

They don’t deserve even a 1-star rating. I requested a blood test, and they first charged me $150, then told me it would cost $1850 just for the test. On top of that, if the test revealed anything, there would be additional charges! It feels like they’re just trying to get as much money as possible—a complete rip-off.

Review
American here who underwent the VIP check-up procedure. There are not many reviews online for this so I wanted to share my experience.
The good: the hospital really is state of the art and is beautiful on the inside. Everything looks new, clean, and hygienic. Truly everything felt as good if not better than any hospital I’ve been to in the US. The machines all looked like the latest technology and all of the medical professionals were good and efficient at their jobs. You also do get a gamut of tests and are seen by specialists in every field to explain the meaning of your results. Luckily, most of my tests came back normal and I was given an essentially clean bill of health. The day of the exams all of your results are in Turkish but even then they’re pretty easy to interpret, and then a few days/weeks after your exam you receive the same results translated to English.
The bad: the check-up is not ran as the well-oiled machine that I had the impression it was from an Instagram post. First, my appointment was at 1010am and I wasn’t even seen until 1105am. It seems this place is not immune from the usual hospital waits. It also takes awhile to get the results. What this meant is from 12pm (lunch time) until 145pm I was sitting around waiting for the results. Not really a bad thing, just have a plan to keep yourself entertained. Also, in the email I got prior to the visit I was told transportation was included in the cost. I responded and asked for transportation from my hotel. The response was since my hotel was on the Asian side, and not European side, I would not be given transportation but that I could show my taxi receipt and it would be reduced from the total cost. That was true, but then they would not double the discount in anticipation of my return taxi. They told me they would arrange for my transportation at the end of the day. I said ok. Come to find out, that transportation was refused for the same reasons so I was left on the hook for the return cost. Additionally, my translator was fairly distracted and absent-minded. He was not quite as attentive as other reviewers described theirs. I don’t know if this was a him thing, or if the hospital has him oversaturated with tasks, or if it was simply that day, but he would constantly be coming and going during my appointments like he had somewhere else to be. Also, it was longer than described to get my translated results and even then it was only half of them. I had to ask for the rest of the results which were then sent to me.
Tips: bring a book as you may be waiting for extended periods of time. Bring your passport to the appointment. I had a photo of mine and that sufficed but it wasn’t in the email traffic beforehand and it would have been nice to have my passport. Also, you do the aerobic/cardio test as part of even the cheapest package. I showed up wearing decently nice clothes and non-running shoes and found myself pouring sweat by the end of the 20 minute run. If you just plan on walking for a few minutes (you can quit the exam whenever you want) then not a big deal, but if you anticipate running the entire time it’s about two miles in total and I would have worn athletic clothes and running shoes had I known.

Never 👎 recommended I go here on 18/05/2022 . I have been endoscopy and colonoscopy before in other country doctor ask me would you like to be wake and see the procedures in screen or don’t whant to see it and we do anesthesia make you sleep by my choice during endoscopy BUT HERE $2100 and finally coming down from the prices after negotiation and didn’t give me my choice which I come four hours flight to this place . And one young man nurse who working here come see me he’s attitude is zero.
I personally never recommend this department to anyone.
