My mother and two friends had eye surgery here, but the situation was terrible. They kept saying they didn't have any ice, even though ice needs to be applied at regular intervals after the surgery. I've been to Central Hospital Etiler from February 16th to February 20th 2026. The whole experience was most positive, since my first contact to get to know about prices, types of surgeries, dates and everything. I've arrived at night, the shuttle took us - my husband and I - at the airport and went straight to the hospital. As we arrived, there was a nice receptionist, but her English was not best (with some effort in both sides, we could understand each other), that's a pattern we've noticed during my stay (most of the staff doesn't speak English, however the majority of people tried their best to make the communication happen). I've been operated in February 17th (a gastric sleeve by Dr. Servet Tali) and two days after I was feeling very well, taking into consideration that part of my stomach was cut off hahahah. I've made lots of pre operatory tests, talked to different doctors before the surgery and to the surgeon himself. During all these moments there was an interpreter present. The most difficult part was during night hours, when there's no interpreter and you need to deal with people who don't speak English. So be ready to use the translator (it'll help you a lot!). Anyway, I'd like to thank the whole team, that was such an adventure. There are amazing people (sorry, I'm bad with names 😔) on nurses team, the interpreter was such a nice guy and the medical consultor (who answered my midnight messages hahahaha) was a princess... First of all, the reason I'm sharing this is so that anyone considering going there can be informed and avoid experiencing the same thing I did. I had rhinoplasty surgery this morning. Of course, I came beforehand, met with my doctor, and made an appointment for today. I arrived, they registered me, took my payment, and directed me to the emergency room. They said the rooms were full and I would go after one became available, which corresponded to the time after the surgery. Afterwards, they took an ECG. The reason I went early was because I hadn't been able to get my tests done; they went so they could get the results quickly. But when I went inside, I kept asking when they would take my blood. They said they were waiting for an approval, and I didn't know what approval they were waiting for, especially since I had already been registered and paid. Afterwards, they took my blood, and after the results came out, they took me to the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist said there wasn't much wrong with my ECG, but they wanted a cardiologist to see it to be on the safe side. Then I was taken back to the emergency room. About two hours passed; it was past 10:00 AM. I arrived at the hospital around 7-7:30 AM. When no one answered, I asked the nurse, and they said they were waiting for news, that my doctor would be coming, that my drawing would be done, etc. After waiting a little longer, I couldn't stand it anymore and called my doctor. He said he was in the operating room and waiting for me, and asked why I wasn't coming down. He said, "Sami, you don't want to," and I said that wasn't the case, which surprised me. I went to the nurse and said the doctor was waiting for me, and she said, "We know, we're waiting for news, then we'll let you down." Apparently, something had happened in the operating room; they hadn't given me approval for anesthesia. When my doctor said there was no problem, why wasn't it given? They didn't explain much, just because they didn't think it was appropriate. I found out about this myself by calling the doctor; the nurses and no one informed me, and then they told me I needed sedation. I was having rhinoplasty, which isn't a normal operation, and I told them I was scared. The nurses said, "You'll decide," and I said, "What's wrong with me that they're not giving me anesthesia? Please explain," and they said, "That's what they thought was appropriate." Then they were going to take me down from the emergency room, but while they were bringing patients down to the operating room in wheelchairs, I said, "Please don't bring me down in that wheelchair, I want to come down in a bed." They took me to the operating room and said they would perform a local anesthetic there. Before I even went, I broke out in hives from stress. When I went downstairs, I panicked and was crying. I asked why they were operating on me like this. The only person I trusted was my doctor, because I knew him from before. He had also been very angry about this kind of treatment. He told me to trust him, but I was very scared. I cried in the operating room. I said I couldn't do a local anesthetic, that I would faint. I was terrified and panicked. It was the first time in my life I had experienced or seen anything like this. I had never heard of, seen, or experienced anything like this before. Therefore, my surgery was performed using a local anesthetic. Don't misunderstand, my tooth wasn't extracted, the surgery was performed using a local anesthetic! I could hear everything during the procedure. When the doctor asked for a cauterizer, they said it wasn't working at the moment, and they made an incision in the operating room without any prior preparation. The doctor squeezed my nose with his hand to stop the bleeding. At that moment, I could have died from blood loss; there was such a risk. They said they didn't have the cauterization cable and that we had to wait a while for it to arrive. Of course, since I'm a local, I hear all this, and I said I would complain about it. When the doctor asks for a piece of equipment, they can't find it; there's a shortage of supplies. This isn't a butcher shop, don't misunderstand, this is an operating room! Afterwards, we left quickly, it didn't even take an hour, out of necessity. I only trusted my doctor; otherwise, he was very angry and tense, and so was I. I will stand by my complaint to the end; I don't want anyone else to experience what I went through. The treatment I received today was incredibly bad. They took a surgical patient to the emergency room, increasing the risk of infection, and if I experience any problems with my nose now, I will hold them all accountable.
