Directions of work
Hair transplantation is a minimally invasive procedure that allows you to restore hair in case of thinning or baldness, uneven growth on the beard or eyebrows, after an injury to the scalp (burns and scars) or to correct the hairline on the forehead.
During the operation, the doctor takes grafts (groups of 1-4 hair follicles) from the donor part of the head and moves them to the balding area. The donor area is mainly the back of the head and the temples. Only the patient’s own follicles can be transplanted, since hair from another person does not take root.
According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), about 635,000 hair transplant procedures are performed worldwide every year. The effectiveness of the method is 90-96% (according to clinic statistics). This means that 90-96 out of 100 transplanted follicles take root.
There are several methods of hair transplantation: FUE, DHI, manual method and combined FUE+DHI method. Patients often ask: which of these methods is better? The answer depends on the individual characteristics of each patient, the condition of the hair and the doctor’s recommendations.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Method
This is a minimally invasive technique in which follicles are individually extracted from the donor area and transplanted to the area of hair loss.
Procedure steps:
- Follicle extraction: The surgeon uses a special tool – a punch – to carefully remove the grafts.
- Scalp preparation: Using a scalpel, the doctor creates micro-incisions where the follicles will be transplanted.
- Follicle transplantation: The hairs are implanted into the prepared channels, taking into account their density and growth angle.
Advantages of the FUE method:
- No large scars, only small traces from the punch that are invisible.
- Possibility of transplanting a large volume of hair in one procedure.
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) Method
This method involves the use of an implanter — Choi-pen, which allows for simultaneous extraction and transplantation of follicles.
Features of the method:
- The surgeon does not create separate channels; transplantation is performed immediately using the Choi-pen.
- Minimal risk of damage to follicles, since they are outside the skin for a shorter period of time.
- Suitable for transplantation without cutting the head and thin hair.
How DHI works:
- Graft collection is carried out in the same way as in the FUE method.
- Transplantation is performed using the Choi-pen, where a spring mechanism inserts the graft into the skin.
Manual method of graft collection
The manual method is characterized by high precision and control over the graft collection process.
Features of the method:
- The follicles are extracted manually using a surgical instrument without the use of mechanical or automatic devices.
- The method is ideal for working with hard-to-reach or small areas of the donor area.
- Minimal risk of injury to the donor area due to an individual approach.
Advantages of the manual method:
- High precision allows you to preserve the maximum number of healthy follicles.
- Natural result due to the ability to more accurately select grafts and their direction.
Combined FUE+DHI method
It is used in cases requiring high hair density or a combined approach to different areas (for example, for transplantation in the frontal and parietal areas).
How to choose a method?
The choice of method depends on the goals and condition of the patient’s hair:
- FUE: optimal for large areas of hair loss and thick transplantation.
- DHI: ideal for local transplantation, thin hair or operations without cutting.
- Manual method: suitable for point work and complex cases.
It is very important to trust the experience of the doctor, who will help choose the best method to achieve a natural result.
We are pleased to introduce a new method of graft collection in our clinic — “Manual Hair Extraction”.
What is it?
Manual Hair Extraction is an innovative approach in which follicles are extracted manually, without the use of a micromotor. The doctor manually controls the tip of the instrument, gently twisting it, which makes the process more gentle for the donor area and significantly reduces the risk of tissue damage.
Advantages of the method
- Gentle effect: minimizes damage to surrounding tissues, which reduces the degree of shock loss in the donor area.
- Preservation of follicles: reduces the risk of injury to grafts, promoting their better engraftment and growth.
- High precision: is ideal for patients with thin hair and a difficult donor area.
Who is this method suitable for?
- Patients with a large bald area.
- Patients who need repeated hair transplantation.
- People with a thin hair structure or limited donor area zone.
Features of the method
The manual method requires more time and high qualification of the surgeon, which makes it more difficult, but the result meets expectations: maximum naturalness, no large scars and preservation of donor resources.
If you are concerned about the condition of your donor zone and want to get a natural result, be sure to check with our medical consultant about the possibility of using the manual method. We will always help you choose the best solution for your case.
